Role: Software Development Engineer in Test(SDET)
Key responsibilities:
Test Automation: Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to validate software functionality, performance, and security.

Test Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create test plans and strategies, including defining test objectives, scope, and timelines.

Test Case Design: Create detailed and comprehensive test cases based on product requirements and user stories, covering both positive and negative scenarios.

Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to enable early detection of defects and ensure rapid feedback to developers.

Test Execution: Execute test cases manually or through automation, analyze test results, and report defects using established processes and tools.

Performance Testing: Design and execute performance and load tests to evaluate the software's scalability and response times under different conditions.

Security Testing: Identify vulnerabilities and security issues by conducting security testing, such as penetration testing, and ensure the software complies with security standards.

Test Data Management: Create and manage test data sets that mimic real-world scenarios, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.

Environment Setup: Configure and maintain test environments, including setting up test servers, databases, and third-party integrations as needed.

Test Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of test cases, test plans, test reports, and automation scripts, making them accessible to the team.
SDETs often collaborate with developers to promote best practices for writing testable code, conduct code reviews for test automation scripts, and participate in agile ceremonies like sprint planning and retrospectives to continuously improve the testing process. They are instrumental in achieving a high level of software quality and reliability throughout the development lifecycle.
